A driver in a Kia Sorrento was headed west on the highway in union Township just after 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 6, Pennsylvania State Police said in a statement.

On the 1300 block of Main Street, the Kia began to "slide counterclockwise" as the driver lost control, troopers said. The car passed over into the eastbound lane and was struck by an oncoming Audi, they continued.

The Kia spun off the road and came to a rest after hitting a  building, according to the police report.

The three boys in the Kia — aged 15, 16, and 17, all of Douglassville — were rushed to Reading Hospital with serious injuries, troopers said. Their conditions as of Tuesday, Feb. 7 were not immediately clear.

Benjamin Smith, the 18-year-old Reading man driving the Audi, was also treated for minor wounds, they wrote.

Parts of Rt. 724/East Main Street remained closed Monday as emergency crews worked the scene.
